Der Song ist schon etwas älter, die Band ist aber wahrscheinlich immernoch die beste japanische Indieband aller Zeiten. “Coaltar of the Deepers” - wann sie wohl endlich einmal in Europa touren werden?

Hin und wieder entdeckt man feine Design-Schätze auf japanischen Websites. Hier mal ein Beispiel für ein - wie nennt man das gleich nochmal? Also, so ein Ding mit Kapuze. Sehr schöne Details. Und wer japanisch kann, kann es hier käuflich erwerben.

Web Trend Map 2007 - Tokyos U-Bahn-Netz und das Inter-Netz

Wer Tokyo kennt und das Internet liebt, für den ist das “Web Trend Map 2007″-Projekt ein echtes Highlight: Die wichtigsten Seiten des Internets abgebildet auf dem U-Bahn-Netz Tokyos, oder genauer: “The 200 most successful websites pinned down on the Tokyo Metro Map, ordered by category, proximity, success, popularity and perspective.” Ein beeindruckendes Projekt der Information Architects Japan. Man kann die “neue” Karte sogar über die Website als A2-Poster erwerben und in allen möglichen Formaten herunterladen (auch z.B. als Postkarte).

Im Gegensatz zu einer Früheren Version wurden einige Insider Jokes aufgehoben:

1. Google has moved from Shibuya, a humming place for young people, to Shinjuku, a suspicious, messy, Yakuza-controlled, but still pretty cool place to hang out (cf. Golden Gai).
2. YouTube has conquered Shibuya.
3. Microsoft has moved to Ikebukuro, if you know what I mean.
4. Yahoo is in Ueno - a nice place, but nothing going on there.
5. Wikipedia is now in Shimbashi, the place for square and hard-headed salarymen - a bit like the Wikipedia watchdogs.
6. The Chinese line runs parallel to the “Sharing line”, which starts with the main pirates…
7. Paper info designer Edward Tufte is directly below the Federated Media, right before joining with the interactive information design circle at a 90 degree angle.
8. “You” are in the Emperor’s palace, at the center of the network.
